Kevin Shine

Kevin Shine is a proven music industry executive with 15 years of experience in various capacities, including both A&R and management. He is a creative motivator who is passionate about real music and believes in keeping his ears to the pavement. His passion allows him to successfully develop and discover new talent while managing other promising endeavors. Shine manages a highly anticipated songwriting duo, Galaxy, while serving as the Senior Vice President of the Soul Selector DJs (representing 115 members). In addition to this, he was appointed as an A& R Consultant to Wayne Williams, the tenured Senior Vice President of A&R for Jive Records.

Shine is mostly recognized for his unrelenting efforts to educate musicians and support quality music that typically would go unrecognized. With this in mind, Shine moved from Chicago to Atlanta in 2008 and fearlessly penetrated the urban music community. While creating opportunities for his songwriting team, he developed strong alliances with many industry executives and artists. Most importantly, he has established a wide range of educational programs and provides opportunities for emerging local talent, a distinguishing factor that differentiates him from other music industry executives.

This educational platform was nothing new for Shine. He has an extensive background in teaching music business that began at Chicago Music & Entertainment Training Institute (METI). He was also a professor at Columbia College – Chicago, where he served as Faculty Advisor for Columbia’s Urban Music Association Student Organization (CUMA). He taught “Developing Record Deal Strategies”, which better-prepared students for practical career solutions. Within 4 years at Columbia College-Chicago, he acquired a 70% success ratio in helping students secure music industry internships and jobs. He has been commended for all of his efforts by Dr William Ashbourne, a senior professor of Music business education of Albany state. 

While planting strong relationships in the Atlanta music community and continuing to focus on education, Shine launched his company The F.I.R.M. (Foundation for Innovative Resource Management and has since begun adding to his list of successful projects. His company is a resource for artists, songwriters, producers, personalities and companies who are interested in strategic consulting. Its main focus is nurturing music and education, while creating a community of opportunity.

Kevin Shine developed "The Premiere A& R Showcase", which provides an exclusive opportunity for local artists to showcase their talent and gives record company executives first dibs on the next big star which produced 4 artist with national recognition. 

In a joint effort with ASCAP's Tremayne Anchrum (Director of Creative Urban Affairs), he currently hosts a private producer/songwriter mixer called "Writing Sessions: Live in the Studio" held once a month. It is quickly emerging as one of Atlanta’s top outlets for songwriters and producers to network with others in the industry. The event allows independent artists, producers and songwriters to get an educational experience as well allowing them to benefit from a private networking environment. Past attendees include Wayne Williams, Jive Records; Kawan Prather, Def Jam; and NO I.D., G.O.O.D. Music.
